Student of Al Mawakeb School
wins first place in DFM online stock game
 

Dubai, May 7, 2006:  Dubai Financial Market (DFM) announced the results of the online stock game that kicked off on March 20, 2006, with Mahar Musleh from Al Mawakeb School in top place, followed by Osama Abdul Razak and Haythem Shahada from Sharjah University.  

As for the participating colleges and schools, Skyline College won the first position among 38 participating colleges, universities, and schools.

DFM distributed cash prizes to winners at an award ceremony attended by Hassan Al Sirkal, Operations Manager, DFM. Jamal Al Khadhar, Market Development Manager, DFM, said: “DFM is delighted with the high levels of involvement in the game. Students experienced the merits of diversifying portfolios, understanding fundamentals and of taking a long-term perspective to investing. The game reflects DFM’s vision in interacting with students and educating them about responsible long term investing and how to build a healthy national economy.” 

“Several schools in UAE and across the region have shown interest to take part in the game. DFM will attract new schools during the next round and will take adequate technical measures to open the door for participation from overseas schools,” he added.  

Mubaraq Al Dosari, Head of Customer Service Unit, DFM, said: “The contest enhances DFM’s relation with educational institutions as it offers a unique interactive experience for students to understand the mechanics of stock markets. We have organised more than 60 training courses for schools, universities, and colleges across the country.”    

Additional awards were presented to the top three female students including Ebtehal Abdulla Ahmed Abdulla, Al Ain Women’s College, followed by Noora Ibrahim Hasan Ibrahim, Zayed University/ Abu Dhabi, and Kinda Alissa, American University in Dubai.
